This year two of Paducah’s most popular festivals—Barbecue on the River and Arts in Action—are combining with a new festival: The Lower Town Fine Arts Festival. The combination of events will bring the community one fun-for-fall weekend celebrating fine arts, creative crafts, lively music, award-winning barbecue, and Paducah hospitality at its best!
Arts In Action
The Museum of the American Quilter’s Society hosts Arts in Action each fall. This year, the festival, sponsored by Paducah Bank, will offer two exciting days of events, including free admission to view the museum’s current exhibits of more than 160 quilts, ongoing art sales, artist demonstrations, hands-on activities, and much more.
Tents spreading across the museum grounds house a wide variety of fine arts and crafts from more than 20 studio artists, including: wood carvers, potters, basket weavers, textile artists, painters, and sculptors.
The Lower Town Fine Arts Festival
Paducah Bank, with support from the Museum of the American Quilter’s Society and the Lower Town Neighborhood Association, is also a key contributor to the first annual Lower Town Fine Arts Festival.
This will be a juried, outdoor exhibition on the grounds of the Museum of the American Quilter’s Society. Cash and purchase awards of $15,000 will be given to award winners.
Festival hours are Friday, September 26, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, September 27, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. An award presentation and reception will be held at the Museum of the American Quilter’s Society on Friday, September 26, at 8 p.m.
Barbecue on the River and Old Market Days
On September 26 and 27, downtown Paducah will be a fiesta for the senses as the annual Barbecue on the River gets underway. The smoky scent of barbecue coming from the 7th Ever Media Cook-Off will fill the fall air. Music by The Cruisers, a dunking booth, fun and games for the younger set, and a beer garden will provide entertainment for all!
