We are thrilled to send our collective CONGRATULATIONS to our very own Vicki Brantley!! Vicki was honored yesterday as this year’s recipient of The Ladd Mathis Award by the United Way of Paducah/McCracken County! Monique Zuber, Executive Director of our United Way shared this at yesterday’s Victory Celebration:
“Each year the United Way presents a very special award in honor of Mr. Ladd Mathis. Mr. Mathis was a 25+ year employee of Martin Marietta (USEC). He served as a Loaned Executive and was a devoted supporter of United Way for many years. Mr. Mathis was a well-respected civic leader who lost his battle with lung cancer at the age of 53. But he left this community a legacy of service. The Ladd Mathis Award is given each year to an individual in our community who has embodied the care and commitment to Paducah and McCracken County that Mr. Mathis did. The Ladd Mathis Award is the highest form of recognition our United Way can give to an outstanding community member.
This year’s Ladd Mathis recipient typically serves in the background. She is always willing to do whatever it takes to make the United Way successful. She brings her knowledge and expertise to serve others. For our United Way she has participated in Reading PALS, Stuff the Bus, Project United, and volunteers at our annual 5K. I have known this volunteer for a few years now. When I first began my journey as the Executive Director she stood beside me and was willing to teach me so much and was continually patient with me . . . and she continues to be a trusted advisor for me and is still patient with me. She has certainly walked beside me to ensure our United Way provides incredible support to the people of this community. This year’s recipient fully understands what it means to GIVE, ADVOCATE and VOLUNTEER. I’d like for her family to make their way up to the front as we recognize this year’s Ladd Mathis Award recipient Vicki Brantley.
Several of our fellow teammates were present for the celebration, and John Durbin shared these thoughts:
“Vicki has been a ‘behind the scenes’ advocate for the United Way for years, supporting the staff with accounting and administrative issues, yet she volunteers for all the events the United Way puts on, including the 5K, Stuff the Bus, the Day of Giving, etc. in addition to the years she served on the United Way Board. She has been a tremendous representative of Paducah Bank.”
Our sincere, heartfelt congratulations go out to Vicki!
