Dr. Turnbo and his wife, Nicole, moved to Paducah in July, 2000 to begin a private family medicine practice that has grown to become one of the area’s leading providers of primary care. In 2008, Dr. Turnbo founded HealthWorks Medical, LLC in response to a community need for employer health solutions and quality occupational healthcare. HealthWorks has grown to become a leader in employer health and wellness with state and national recognition for innovative and quality healthcare initiatives. Dr. Turnbo serves as the CEO and Medical Director of HealthWorks Medical, LLC as well as Medical Director for numerous local and national companies. HealthWorks has multiple locations in Paducah and additional clinics in Murray, Union City, TN, and a clinic in Mayfield opening soon.
Turnbo earned an undergraduate degree in Biology and Chemistry as well as his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency at the University of Alabama – Birmingham, where he was named Chief Resident, “Best Overall Resident,” and received the “Internal Medicine Faculty Award for Excellence,” in addition to other honors. Dr. Turnbo completed his Masters in Public Health (MPH) at Purdue University, where he graduated Summa cum Laude, and has completed an Occupational Medicine Residency in the Department of Emergency Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn).
Currently, Dr. Turnbo serves as Chairman of the Board for Purchase Independent Physicians ACO. He previously has served on the Purchase Health Department Board, as Chairman of the Board of Purchase Health Partners, and as the Chief of Medicine at Lourdes Hospital from 2007-2011. He and his wife, Nicole, and their three children, Clayton, Lilly and Lucy, reside in Paducah, KY. They are members of Heartland Baptist Church.
