Paducah Bank President Mardie Herndon and Socially Present owner Jonas Neihoff presented a $2,000 check this morning to Nathan Torian for the Operation Enduring Freedom.
The two companies lifted up the story of Paducah’s MSGT Aaron Torian on social media on Memorial Day as a way to raise funds to honor him and others who have given their lives in the Global War on Terror. The $2,000 donation takes Nathan over the half-way mark of the final $15,000 needed for the completion of the memorial.
“Memorial Day is often a difficult day for so many people who mourn the loss of their loved ones,” said Neihoff. “Nathan is an old friend, and I saw his efforts to honor his brother and other soldiers who have given the ultimate sacrifice. I wanted to be a part of it, and I knew Paducah Bank would be a perfect partner because of their commitment to veterans.”
Paducah Bank President Mardie Herndon has made honoring and recognizing veterans a priority at the bank. “Paducah Bank is grateful for the service of our brave veterans and military members,” says Herndon. “We want to show our gratitude, and we believe that is best done through actions. As we honor the flag and all that it stands for on this Flag Day, we are especially proud to lift up the memory of MSGT Aaron Torian and others who have given their lives for our freedom.”
In addition to this donation, Paducah Bank dedicated a parking spot at their Main Office last year as a place of honor for those who have selflessly given so much to all of us. “We are partnering with local companies to host 50 reserved veteran parking spaces throughout our community by the end of the year,” said Herndon. “While we can never repay them for their service, we also offer free checking to our veterans, which we hope will ease a little of the burden of managing their finances. We also added VA loans to our offerings. In these ways, Paducah Bank is working to serve those who have served our country.”
At Dolly McNutt Plaza in downtown Paducah, there are currently three memorials erected (WWII, The Korean War, and Vietnam), with one spot remaining. The City of Paducah and McCracken County have reserved this spot for a monument in honor of the soldiers who have given their life to fight the Global War on Terror, and have each donated towards its construction.
Donations can be made through the Operation Enduring Freedom Fund at any Paducah Bank location.
