Paducah Bank President Mardie Herndon and CFO John Durbin presented a $7,550 check to Marcella's Kitchen today.
Marcella’s Kitchen is located in Marshall County and has been providing free hot meals to anyone in need since 2011. The organization is staffed by over 150 volunteers and has served over 70,000 meals to date. Volunteers use vans and buses to transport those who are hungry from all over Marshall County to the kitchen. No guest is ever asked to pay.
Paducah Bank began a debit card program at the start of 2014 to help feed Paducah’s hungry. Every time a customer uses his or her debit card as a credit transaction, a donation is made to one of four local organizations that provide meals to the community.
The bank set a quarterly goal of $7,500 for each of four organizations slated to receive contributions: Paducah/McCracken County Senior Citizen Center Meals on Wheels program, Paducah Cooperative Ministries, the 4-H Food Backpack program for school children, and Marcella’s Kitchen. That goal was surpassed in each quarter of both 2014 and 2015. The bank has now donated $71,333 to feed the hungry in our community.
