“We are honored to have among our Paducah Bank team veteran Nathan Greve,” says Mardie Herndon, Paducah Bank president. “It is our privilege to take this opportunity on Veterans Day to publicly thank Nathan for his service to our nation and his dedication to the many military assignments he undertook with bravery.”

Nathan Greve joined the Army in 2001 and in 2002 was deployed to Cuba in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. During this deployment, Nathan worked in the detainee detention facility known as Camp Delta in Guantanamo Bay. He spent a year there with the 438^th Military Police (MP) Company. In June 2005, Nathan was again deployed, this time with the 617^th MP Company, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom under the command of the 18^th MP Brigade. “We were a combat support company that did Main Supply Route patrols on the central Baghdad route and gave quick support to all combat elements,” says Nathan. “In August my platoon was sent to Forward Operating Base Spartan near Al Khalis, which is about 35 miles north of Bagdad, to act as a Quick Reaction Force team. This is where I was injured by an IED while patrolling the area.”

Nathan suffered a badly broken leg, several fractured vertebra, a collapsed lung, broken ribs, and burns which required 30+ surgeries and three years of physical therapy. “I was medically retired in October of 2008,” Nathan adds. His awards include the Army Achievement Medal, Oversea Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Combat Action Badge, two Army Commendation Medals and a Purple Heart. Nathan also received the Presidential Coin from President George W. Bush while he was at Walter Reed Hospital.

“We have many veterans among us at Paducah Bank and today we would like to express our gratitude for the service of each of them and all those in our community and around our nation who have served to preserve the freedom and safety of the United States of America,” adds Herndon. Among Paducah Bank’s other veterans are Victor Bopp, Chief Risk Officer, along with David Denton and Dr. Wally Montgomery, members of the Paducah Bank Board of Directors.
