The Paducah Sun has published a look back at the Racers history-making season. From the double-overtime win against Southern Mississippi to the Racers’ rally against Memphis that made Murray State a national curiosity, and the growing lopsided win-loss column that eventually captured the spotlight, “A Season To Remember” archives the long trail to a 31-2 record season.
With a compilation of Sun game reports and the work of seven photographers — some never published before — the special edition publication will fully detail the scope of Murray State’s season through the sports pages of Sun publications. Including a foreword from Murray State’s Bennie Purcell, the 64-page book highlights the national recognition of Racer Nation.
The special publication, sponsored by Paducah Bank, is a testament not only to the hard work of Murray State’s men’s basketball team, but the way the region came together in support of its team, said Susan Guess, Paducah Bank marketing director. One dollar of every book sale will be donated to the Guess Anti-Bullying Fund in Coach Steve Prohm’s name. A book signing event with Coach Prohm is set for May 24 from 5-7 p.m. at Paducah Bank’s Strawberry Hill location.
Commemorative books can be purchased at the Sun and at all Paducah Bank locations for $16 each.
