Paducah Bank presented a check today to the Paducah/McCracken County Senior Center for $8,219 to support the work of the organization in feeding hungry senior adults in Paducah-McCracken County.

“Last year, we began a partnership with our customers to support our commitment to the needs of the community,” said Mardie Herndon, Paducah Bank president. “Our Swipe and Serve project allows our customers to help us help those who are hungry in our city and county. With each signature-based debit card transaction that our customers make, we set aside a contribution to a local organization that helps feed the hungry. This is our second quarter contribution of 2015 and the largest quarterly donation since we began the program. So far, Paducah Bank has donated $47,747.92 to help end hunger in Paducah and McCracken County. This is a fantastic testament to the people who make Paducah Bank the kind of community bank that we can all be very proud of.”

The Paducah/McCracken County Senior Center provides Meals on Wheels delivery for home-bound, senior adults in McCracken County. Last year, the Center delivered 20,747 meals to individuals over 60 years-old who were unable to leave their home and unable to prepare their own meals due to debilitating ailments. Many times, the delivery driver is the only human contact these individuals will have all day. 31,443 meals were also served to seniors who came to the center.

“We are extremely appreciative of the support we have received from Paducah Bank,” said Guelda Wooldridge, executive director of the Paducah/McCracken County Senior Center. “Not only the financial support, but also the hours spent by the amazing employees of the bank serving food to the seniors at the center. Paducah Bank has made a real impact on their lives.”

“Our next cycle begins now,” said Susan Guess, senior vice president of marketing for Paducah Bank. “Next quarter, we plan to make a contribution to Paducah Cooperative Ministry. Our goal is to be able to provide at least $7,500. But our hope is to continue our record of surpassing our goals. We need everyone’s help to ensure another strong donation for this deserving organization.”
