Paducah Bank will once again host its annual College and Career Night on Thursday, July 9, at the Country Club of Paducah.  The evening begins at 5:00 p.m. and will provide an opportunity for high school and college students to relax, have fun, and network with their peers and area business leaders. Corporate Employment Consultants will present “Putting Together a Job Search Plan” at the event, and five lucky attendees will win $100 each.

This year, Paducah Bank is expanding the event with the support of West Kentucky Community and Technical College and Baptist Health Paducah to include workshops led by Mickey Brown, a job coach and career consultant, on preparing for careers after college.

“A job search work plan includes knowing your strengths and telling stories about how you have used them to get work or a project completed in the past,” says Brown. “We want to support our high school and college graduates by giving them the guidelines for evaluating future job opportunities, and we hope they will look for those in our community.”

The College and Career Day workshop sessions will also be held on July 9. Topics will include preparing for job searches, interview techniques, resume preparation, networking, negotiating offers, and more. The first 60 registered students can attend the College & Career Day workshops for free. All 2015 high school graduates and all college students, including 2015 college graduates, are invited to participate in both the daytime and evening events.

“We believe that one of the most important missions of our community and Paducah Bank, as a part of that community, is to encourage the professional development of our young college graduates so they will strongly consider coming back home to Paducah to live and work,” says Mardie Herndon, Paducah Bank president.

“WKCTC Workforce Solutions is proud to help both high school and college students prepare to enter the workforce,” added Jessica Toren, manager of external education at WKCTC. “We want them to know WKCTC supports them as they plan for their future careers.”
