PCM check presentationPaducah Bank presented a check today to Paducah Cooperative Ministry for $8,000 to support the work of the organization in feeding the hungry in Paducah-McCracken County.

“Last January, we created a special initiative that works in partnership with our customers and supports our commitment to the needs of the community,” said Mardie Herndon, Paducah Bank president. “Our Swipe and Serve project allows our customers to help us help those who are hungry in our city and county. Every time our customers use their debit cards for a signature-based transaction, the bank puts aside a contribution to one of four local organizations that help the hungry. This is our fourth quarterly contribution of 2014. The other three organizations to receive contributions from Swipe and Serve in 2014 were the River City Mission, Community Kitchen, and the 4-H Food Backpack program. We are thrilled that we can officially say we surpassed our goal of $7,500 in each quarter of 2014!”

“Paducah Bank has been a committed supporter of our work in the community for years,” said Heidi Suhrheinrich, executive director of Paducah Cooperative Ministry. “An average of more than 500 households a month received emergency groceries in 2014 thanks to our generous community and the terrific people at Paducah Bank. Not only did they provide monetary help, they also provided much needed manpower and service hours – stocking shelves, distributing groceries, etc. We are very grateful for their help.”

“Our 2015 Swipe and Serve program is already underway,” said Susan Guess, senior vice president of marketing. “For the first quarter of 2015, we will once again be contributing to the 4-H Food Backpack program. Paducah Bank employees have already begun volunteering their time and service to stuffing backpacks with nutritious food for the school children in our community who would otherwise go without. We hope our customers will continue their good work from last year, so we can provide another strong donation to this deserving organization.” The Paducah/McCracken County Senior Center Meals on Wheels program, Paducah Cooperative Ministry, and the River City Mission will also receive contributions in 2015.

In total, the Paducah Bank Swipe and Serve program contributed over $31,000 to feeding the hungry in our area in 2014. Paducah Bank is an award-winning, locally-owned bank employing more than 150 people in our community.
