Paducah Bank makes leading contribution for healthcare programs, scholarships at WKCTC

PADUCAH, KY

The Paducah Bank and Trust Company recently contributed $150,000 to Paducah Junior College (PJC), the foundation for West Kentucky Community and Technical College (WKCTC), in support of healthcare education programs and two specific scholarships offered by the college.

PJC is currently raising funds through its HealthCare COUNTS Campaign to support a Healthcare Education-to-Work Endowment Fund, which will provide continuous support for programs that lead to careers in nursing, dental assisting, sonography, radiography, surgical technology, pharmacy technology, physical therapist assistant, and more. "I'm excited about the HealthCare COUNTS Campaign, which is both timely in meeting the increasing regional medical needs and critical to supporting the incredible efforts of training and preparing our current and future healthcare providers," said WKCTC President Anton Reece. "I am thankful for the support of our community stakeholders and their willingness to invest in the overall wellness and future of our communities," he added.

According to Lee Emmons, vice president of advancement and PJC executive director, Paducah Bank is among 10 donors thus far who have earned naming rights to healthcare program classrooms and facilities by contributing a major gift. Emmons said the campaign will continue through October, and all donors of $1,000 or more will be recognized on a donor appreciation wall.

Emmons explained that $100,000 of Paducah Bank's contribution is designated for the HealthCare COUNTS Campaign, while $50,000 is designated for scholarships. The Dr. Wally Montgomery Endowment, which funds scholarships for surgical technology students, and the Bill and Meredith Schroeder Endowment, which funds scholarships for high-achieving students in any field, will each receive $25,000 of the bank's contribution for fiscal year 2021-22.

Paducah Bank issued a "matching challenge" for the Montgomery and Schroeder scholarships in 2020, pledging to match gifts to either fund, up to $25,000 per year for four years. Both Montgomery and Schroeder, now deceased, were members of the Paducah Bank and Trust Company Board of Directors, and both were strong supporters of PJC. Joe Framptom, Paducah Bank Board Chair, said he hopes the bank's contribution will spur others in the community to donate.
